Why FLIC Luminaries Carry a 10-Year Durability Warranty

Built Differently. Proven Over Decades.

Most decorative luminaries were never designed to spend weeks outdoors. Traditional paper-bag luminarias can be beautiful, but they're temporary. Many plastic alternatives are lightweight and marketed as weather-resistant, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're built for years of repeated outdoor use.

FLIC Luminaries were designed from the beginning to be different.

Our first injection mold was developed in 2000 with a simple objective: create a luminary that could capture the traditional look and glow of a luminaria while being durable enough to use season after season, year after year.

More than two decades of real-world use later, that original idea is the foundation of our 10-Year Luminary Durability Warranty.

One-Piece Construction Matters

Durability begins with design.

FLIC Luminaries are manufactured as a single-piece unit, without hinges, folds or assembled panels that can become weak points over time. We also strengthened critical areas of the design, including the upper edge, to help resist cracking and deterioration from repeated outdoor exposure.

The result is a hard-plastic luminary designed from the beginning for repeated use—not a disposable decoration that happens to be made from plastic.

The Material Matters, Too

The shape of a luminary is only half the durability equation.

FLIC Luminaries use a specially formulated polymer incorporating virgin polyethylene, UV stabilizers and other compounds selected for long-term outdoor performance. The formulation was developed and refined through years of testing and real-world experience.

That combination of material and construction allows FLIC Luminaries to withstand the conditions that come with outdoor decorating: heat, cold, rain, sleet, snow, ice and wind.

From Desert Heat to Hurricanes

Laboratory specifications can tell you only so much. Decades outdoors tell you considerably more.

Over the years, customers have reported FLIC Luminaries enduring some remarkable conditions—including tornadoes, hurricanes, winds exceeding 100 mph, winter blizzards, tropical storms, heavy rain and extended desert heat.

We don't warrant that every luminary will survive every extreme-weather event. These experiences are simply real-world examples of how remarkably durable FLIC Luminaries have proven to be.

And perhaps the best evidence isn't an extraordinary storm at all.

Many FLIC Luminaries from our earliest production years are still being used today.

Why We Back Them for 10 Years

After years of manufacturing FLIC Luminaries and watching them perform in the real world, we decided our warranty should reflect the durability of the product itself.

Our 10-Year Luminary Durability Warranty applies to FLIC Luminaries used in both residential and commercial applications and covers the durability and material integrity of FLIC Luminaries for normal seasonal outdoor use of up to 60 days per year.

It's not simply a warranty against an initial manufacturing defect. It's a long-term commitment to the durability FLIC Luminaries were designed to provide.

Made to Come Back Next Year

A reusable luminary only makes sense if it can actually be reused.

FLIC Luminaries are designed to remain outdoors throughout the season, then nest compactly for storage and return the following year. That combination of durability, reusability and efficient storage is what separates FLIC from both disposable paper bags and lightweight plastic alternatives.

What began with a group of neighbors and an injection mold in 2000 has become more than two decades of real-world proof.

Put them out. Enjoy them. Store them. Bring them back next year.

And we'll keep building them to last.
